The food was really great, my wife was enthusiastic about the cabbage roll, the Himmeroder Mönchskloß was to die for. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, at least on the day, but the wait was worth it. Therefore only 4 stars.

We have been visiting the monastery and the restaurant for many years and always with enthusiasm. In normal times it would always be five stars, and if that were possible, more. The downside is due to the corona: a limited menu, only a few "allowed" tables in the restaurant and clearly, especially due to the inconsiderate behavior of the guests, stressed staff make the "monastery restaurant experience" less nice than usual. Nevertheless: the food is still unrestricted to recommend!

The food was good, especially the pea soup (changing monastery stew). There is regional food, for example trout, bratwurst, goat cheese, etc. Friendly and efficient service.

Here you can eat well and take a break from everyday life.

We had registered as a group in July and given the meal requests beforehand. Everything was implemented within the framework of our time ideas and there are 5 stars. Our trout tasted great and the apple spritzer was also something better. We will be back next year.

Yes, yes, yes! I am so happy and thankful to have visited this spot. I was eating dinner, which was tasty, and then the place erupted in singing German songs! Everyone was happy and friendly and the beer, wow. I wish I could go back.

Excellent trout

Food was great. Schnitzel was smaller than I am used to here in Germany but the dumpling and the meatloaf were awesome. The view of the abbey is breathtaking.

Typical Local for the area. A large car park is available outside the abbey and a nice little path leads to the restaurant. (There is also an entrance without stairs) In good weather there is a wonderful terrace. Children will find a great little playground. Specialties of the house: Kreuterpfannkuchen or Rösti.

Good home-style food and a great atmosphere. We were two evenings in a row to strengthen us after the Eifelsteig stages. The portions are large, the food is great. There is nothing wrong with this. The view of the church and the extremely well-maintained complex complete the experience. The guest room is very clean and rustic. Here you feel immediately comfortable. The prices are absolutely fine and the price / performance ratio is really great! Highly recommended is the in-house monastery liqueur :)

Best restaurant near the base, hands down. Get a monk's dumpling and an Abtei beer.

Nice location, great food. Operation is awful.

Solid German fare can be found here. In addition to one of the better (and stronger) beers in the area. The schnitzel, monk's dumpling, and the local salmon trout (raised on the abbey) are all favorites. The servers have always been accommodating and patient with the Americans that always find their way here. After the meal be sure and walk the grounds and visit the shops for local honey and some area history.
